Thrift with Me For Spring Pieces

Thrifting has become such a trend in the past couple of years and I’m so here for it! I’ve been thrifting/shopping in charity shops for as long as I can remember and I can always remember the happiness I feel when I find something I’ve wanted for ages for the fraction of the price!

I know even now there is still a stigma around charity shops and I feel like these should be broken once and for all. I know some people think that buying from charity shops is only for old people and you can never find amazing things in the charity shop but that is where people are wrong! I’ve found so many bargains in the charity shop over the years and I wanted to shed light on that in this post!

Something that has also came into the light over the past few years is fast fashion and it’s no secret what effect this is having on the environment! I uploaded a post a few weeks ago all about my opinions on fast fashion and I gave some of my tips for helping against this! Here’s the post if you want to give it a read:

One of the tips I talked about quite a lot in this post is shopping second hand. This can either be through charity shops or through online apps such as Depop and eBay. This is such a great way of putting someone else’s clothes to a great use. I’m thinking of making this a frequent post on my post because I do admit, I do go thrifting quite a lot and It’s always fun to show other people!

For this post, I thought I would set myself a challenge of getting as many Spring pieces as I can for £30 or under. I know in places like Topshop and River Island you can get a spring dress for £30 so I wanted to see how many pieces I could get from the charity shop for the same price as one thing on the high street!

  1. Two pink t-shirts- Reebok and ANIMAL

Who remembers when ANIMAL was a thing? The brand always reminds me of when I used to go on holiday to wales as they always had a shop that sold there pieces! Both of these t-shirts are very similar so I’m only keeping one of them, I’m going to be selling the ANIMAL t-shirt over on my Depop if anyone is interested in purchasing. The Reebok t-shirt is a new love of mine! It looks perfect with Mom jeans and it just reminded me of the 90’s. Both of these t-shirts were £2 each and that’s a bargain if you ask me!

2. ASOS floral dress

Okay brace yourselves, guess how much I got this beauty of a dress for? I got it for a total of 50p! I actually can’t believe it, I was over the moon that it was in my size because it is beautiful! This dress was on the sale rack in one of the charity shops I went in and I couldn’t quite believe that no one had snatched it up! I can’t wait to wear this throughout summer!

3. Nike pro-fit gym leggings

For a few months now I’ve been on the hunt for some black gym leggings, especially some that aren’t see through! I found these nike pro-fit gym leggings and I was so unbelievably excited because they were a total of £3 and I know you can get these leggings for at least £30 or more! The leggings were in such great quality and I paid as soon as I saw them!

4. Floral and polka dress

This was one of my latest finds and I was so excited when I saw it! In ZARA a year ago I saw a dress very similar to this but it was £40 and I couldn’t part ways with £40 for the dress. It then went on sale but it wasn’t in my size so I was gutted until I saw this dress in my local charity shop for £4, a definite steal! This isn’t the exact one from ZARA but it is very close and I couldn’t be more happier with it! I’m definitely thinking of taking it to Portugal with me in a few weeks!

5. Star long sleeved top

For some reason, when I saw this I instantly fell in love and I couldn’t say no to it! This top was an absolute bargain of £2 and I couldn’t wait to start wearing it! The colour is quite faded but I didn’t mind because it gave me a bit of a vintage vibe which I’m really loving at the moment! I can’t wait to wear this top throughout summer with some shorts, it would definitely go so well for a festival which I’m not going to this year, unfortunately.

6. Black v-neck Playsuit

When I brought this I swore I’d previously owned it but no, I’ve owned something very similar but this I love so much more! It’s originally from Primark which In my opinion, it didn’t look like that to me because it looked so much more expensive! I got this playsuit for a grand total of £1.99 which makes me very happy, in fact, I’ve already worn it to a party and I got so many compliments!

7. Navy and red lip Topshop dress

This dress was either going to be a hit or miss item but I’m so happy I brought it! It was on the sale rack for only £2 and I couldn’t pass it up! It’s currently up for sale on my depop because it’s very short on me and its a size 8, which can we actually just appreciate it fitting me? I’m super sad to be letting this go but I’m hoping it can go to a loving home!

8. Pink coat

A coat? In spring? This is a different type of coat, it is pink! There has been a coat I’ve wanted from Topshop and ZARA for the longest time and I was so happy to find a duplicate of that said coat in the charity shop! I got this coat for a grand total of £5 and I can’t wait to wear it on the more colder days in Spring and Summer!

So, that’s everything I got from my charity shop challenge, I got total of 8 items including a coat, a couple of dresses and tops for a grand total of £19.49 which is well below the limit I had set myself! I didn’t want to buy things that I wasn’t going to love which is why I only got this amount! Doesn’t that just go to show how many bargains you can get from going charity shopping and saving the environment at the same time? Let me know in the comments if you would like to see more like this on my blog!
